Aanakkampoyil is the starting point for treks into the Vellarimala forest range, including the scenic Olichuchattam Waterfall (also known as Vellarimala Waterfall), which sits at around 6,400 feet above sea level. The main trail toward the falls runs roughly 6 km through forest and uphill terrain, starting from Muthappanpuzha village just past Aanakkampoyil — this is a real trek, not a casual walk, so wear proper trekking shoes, carry water, and pace yourself. Avoid visiting during heavy rain since trails get slippery.

The ideal season is generally October to February, when the weather is cool and trails are dry. It's best to avoid the June–September monsoon months, when streams can swell and paths become dangerous.
